About Bill

Bill joined the Topeka Civitan Club in December, 1976, Since that time, Bill has been active in his club, the Oklahoma-Kansas District, the Heartland District and Civitan International.

 

While serving on the Civitan Interntional Board, 2003-05, Bill was instrumental in the successful merger of the Oklahoma-Kansa, Ozark and Texas District into the Heartland District.

 

Bill and his wife, Sharon were married in May, 1973. They raised three wonderful kids, Jennifer is working on her doctorae in dance theory in California. Duane is married to Lindsay, and has just completed his maters in Urban Planning. Amy is a graduate of Kansas University in Sports Science.

 

Bill is a Vice President of Capitol Federal Savings Bank in Topeka, Kansas, and has been with the bank since 1976. Bill manages the Banking Services department which includes transactions services, ATM network and regulatory compliance.

 

In addition to his local club involvement, Bill has been very active in the Topeka community. Other activities Bill has been involved w include:

  • Bill served on the board of directors of Sheltered Living for 9 years. Sheltered Living supports people with disabilities to achieve independence. Sheltered Living provides residential, day and case management services for people with developmetal disabilities.

 

  • Bill served 4 years on the TARC Quality Assurance committee. This committee visits residential and day care facilities to assess the quality of care received by persons with developmental disabilities.

 

  • Bill has served the past 9 years on the Topeka Crime Stoppers board, and has served as treasurer the past 4 years.

 

  • Bill is a United Way volunteer, serves on an assessment committee.

 

  • Bill has been a Meals on Wheels volunteer for the past 10 years.
